Job Description
The University Driver is responsible for the safe, reliable, and efficient transportation of university staff, students, guests, and official materials using university buses or vans. The role ensures compliance with traffic laws, NTSA regulations, and university transport policies while maintaining high standards of vehicle safety, cleanliness, and operational readiness. The driver also supports logistics for official university activities such as field trips, academic visits, conferences, and events.
Responsibilities
Ensure the safe and efficient transportation of university staff, students, and guests.
Transport official materials and university assets securely.
Maintain strict compliance with traffic laws and NTSA regulations.
Adhere to internal university transport policies.
Maintain high standards of vehicle safety, cleanliness, and overall operational readiness.
Support logistics for official university activities including field trips, academic visits, conferences, and events.
Requirements and Qualifications
Academic: Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) mean grade of D (Plain) or above.
Experience: 3 to 5 years of professional driving experience, preferably within a school or institutional setup.
Licensing: Valid NTSA Driving License with relevant classes such as D1, D2, or D3 (specifically for large buses).
Mandatory Certification: A valid Institutional PSV badge is mandatory.
Clearance: Certificate of Good Conduct (Police Clearance) from the DCI.
Desirable Skills (Added Advantage)
Basic computer proficiency.
Knowledge of firefighting and occupational health and safety.
First Aid Certificate from a recognized institution like St. John Ambulance or KIHBT.
Defensive Driving Certificate from the Automobile Association (AA) of Kenya or equivalent.
Passed the Suitability Test for Drivers (Grade III) from the Ministry of Roads or KIHBT.
