The Isiolo County Government is seeking a professional, highly competent, and self-driven individual to fill the position of Director of Roads and Infrastructure. This is a senior leadership role responsible for the effective planning, direction, control, and coordination of the county's road networks and engineering infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
- Formulate, implement, and review county infrastructure and road development policies.
- Coordinate and direct the planning, design, and construction of county roads, bridges, and other infrastructure projects.
- Manage resources, departmental budgets, and oversee the performance of engineering and technical teams.
- Ensure compliance with national and county engineering standards, safety protocols, and regulatory requirements.
- Coordinate project implementation with external consultants, contractors, and national government agencies.
Requirements for Appointment
- At least a cumulative period of eight (8) years' relevant work experience, with at least three (3) years at the level of Deputy Director, Engineering (Roads) or in an equivalent and relevant position.
- Bachelor of Science or Engineering Degree in Civil and Structural Engineering, or its equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.
- Master's Degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Construction Engineering and Management, or its equivalent qualification from a recognized institution is an added advantage.
- Registration by the Engineers Board of Kenya (EBK) as a professional Engineer.
- Registration as a Corporate Member of the Institution of Engineers of Kenya (MIEK).
- Valid Annual Practising License from the Engineers Board of Kenya (EBK).
- Certificate in a Leadership Course lasting not less than four (4) weeks from a recognized institution.
- Proficiency in computer applications.
- Demonstrated a high degree of professional competence and administrative capability required for effective planning, direction, control, and coordination of the engineering road's function.
