Role Description
The Dialysis Nurse is responsible for delivering safe, high-quality, and effective haemodialysis treatment to patients, managing dialysis equipment, and working alongside a multidisciplinary medical team.
Key Responsibilities
Provide safe and effective haemodialysis treatment to patients.
Prepare, operate, and monitor dialysis machines before, during, and after treatment.
Assess patients before, during, and after dialysis, documenting findings accurately.
Monitor patients for complications and respond promptly to emergencies.
Maintain infection prevention and control standards within the dialysis unit.
Administer prescribed medications and Intravenous therapies as required.
Educate patients and their families on dialysis care, treatment plans, and lifestyle modifications.
Ensure proper maintenance and handling of dialysis equipment and supplies.
Collaborate with nephrologists and the multidisciplinary team to provide quality patient care.
Qualifications and Experience
Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Nursing.
Registered with the Nursing Council of Kenya (NCK) with a valid practicing licence.
Specialized training/certification in Haemodialysis Nursing.
At least 2 years' experience in a dialysis unit is an added advantage.
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is an added advantage.
High level of professionalism, integrity, and teamwork.
