
National Legal Aid Service
The National Legal Aid Service (NLAS) is a state agency established under the Legal Aid Act 2016 with the mandate to offer legal aid services to the vulnerable, marginalized, and indigent persons. NLAS is seeking to recruit a Deputy Director Internal Audit and Risk Assurance.\n\n### Role Overview\nThe Deputy Director Internal Audit and Risk Assurance is responsible for formulating and coordinating the implementation of internal audit strategies, policies, and plans to ensure effective governance, risk management, and internal control systems.\n\n### Key Duties and Responsibilities\n- Developing and reviewing the annual audit plan.\n- Overseeing the audit of all operations and systems.\n- Reviewing and compiling the audit report for all risk-based audits conducted by Internal Audit staff and following up on the implementation of audit recommendations.\n- Overseeing the implementation of the annual audit plan as approved, including any special tasks or projects requested by management and the Audit Committee.\n- Formulating and coordinating the implementation of internal audit strategies, policies, and plans.\n- Overseeing the training and development of Audit staff.\n- Serving as Secretary to the Audit Committee.\n\n### Requirements and Qualifications\n- At least fifteen (15) years cumulative work experience, three (3) of which should have been at the grade of Assistant Director, Internal Audit or in a comparable position in the Public or Private sector.\n- Master's degree in Business Administration (Finance), Business Administration (Accounting), Finance, or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.\n- Bachelor’s Degree in Commerce, Finance, Accounts, Business Administration, or relevant qualifications from a recognized institution.\n- CPA (K), or CIA, or Certified Chartered Accountant (ACCA), or relevant qualifications from a recognized institution.\n- Must be a member of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya (ICPAK) or the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) in good standing.\n- Certificate in Leadership Course.\n- Demonstrated merit and ability as reflected in work performance and results.\n- Successful candidates must satisfy the requirements of Leadership and Integrity as set out in Chapter Six of the Constitution of Kenya (Clearance from EACC, KRA Tax Compliance Certificate, DCI Certificate of Good Conduct, CRB Clearance Certificate, and HELB Clearance Certificate).
