Role Overview
Kenyatta University is seeking a qualified Lecturer for the Department of Spatial and Environmental Planning. Kenyatta University is a premier multi-campus public university in Kenya. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing academic leadership, delivering course content to students, and engaging in research and consultancy within the field of spatial and environmental planning.
Responsibilities and Duties
Deliver high-quality lectures and tutorials to students at the university level.
Develop and update course materials and curricula to reflect current industry and academic trends.
Conduct original research in the areas of spatial planning and environmental management.
Supervise undergraduate and potentially postgraduate students in their research projects.
Participate in departmental meetings, university committees, and other administrative tasks.
Provide mentorship and academic guidance to students.
Engage in community service and professional consultancy as part of the university's outreach.
Qualifications and Experience
Education: A Master’s degree in a relevant area of specialization (Spatial Planning, Environmental Planning, or related fields) from a recognized University.
Experience:
At least three (3) years of teaching experience at the University level, in Research, or in the Industry.
Candidates with four (4) years of teaching experience in a tertiary institution will also be considered.
Additional Advantage: A PhD degree in a relevant area of specialization is highly desirable.
