Job Description
Kenyatta University is seeking a qualified individual to join the Department of Hospitality and Tourism Management as a Lecturer. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing high-quality instruction at the university level, engaging in research activities, and contributing to the academic development of the department. This role requires a professional with a strong background in hospitality and tourism, capable of bridging the gap between industry practices and academic theory.
Responsibilities
Deliver lectures and facilitate learning for undergraduate and postgraduate students in hospitality and tourism management.
Conduct original research and publish findings in reputable academic journals.
Participate in curriculum development and review to ensure program relevance.
Supervise student research projects, theses, and dissertations.
Engage in departmental and university administrative tasks and committees.
Provide mentorship and academic advising to students.
Collaborate with industry stakeholders to enhance the practical application of the curriculum.
Qualifications and Requirements
Education: A Master’s degree in relevant areas of specialization from a recognized University is required. A PhD degree in a relevant area of specialization will be considered an added advantage.
Experience:
At least three (3) years of teaching experience at the University level, or experience in Research or Industry.
Alternatively, candidates with four (4) years of teaching experience in a tertiary institution will also be considered.
Skills
Proficiency in academic instruction and pedagogical techniques.
Strong research and analytical capabilities.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Deep understanding of the Hospitality and Tourism industry trends.
Ability to work effectively within a multi-campus environment.
