Working closely with the Head of Credit, the Debt Recovery Manager will ensure that all approved and disbursed Credit PayG loans are fully repaid as stipulated in the terms and conditions. The primary objective is to prevent loss to the institution due to non-repayment and manage the end-to-end recovery process effectively.
Key Responsibilities
Portfolio Analysis: Project relevant trends that affect the collectables of the non-performing Credit PayG portfolio and isolate potential problem areas.
Monitoring: Monitor Credit PayG loan repayments and initiate or recommend appropriate courses of action.
CRB Management: Extract, confirm, and transmit CRB information to the licensed Credit Reference Bureau.
Customer Engagement: Conduct field customer visits (on a need basis) and telephone calls to follow up on payments and collect from Credit PayG debtors.
Strategy Execution: Execute the institution's strategy in reducing the Non-performing Credit PayG portfolio, including reporting on write-offs, collections, and repossessions on a regular basis.
Arrears Management: Ensure PAR 30 management for all disbursed Credit PayG loans is fully executed and maintain tracking records of recovery progress.
Reporting: Prepare weekly arrears reports for all regions, follow up with Debt Recovery officers, and make recommendations on bad debts to be written off to management.
Insurance & Risk: Maintain an up-to-date register on loan-related insurance claims and ensure prompt reimbursement from underwriters. Report and monitor all risks associated with field debt recovery operations.
Team Leadership: Manage resource scheduling and the determination of priority of work to maximize production output and success levels for field debt recovery officers.
Decision Support: Generate compliance reports for use in decision-making and performance appraisals.
Requirements and Qualifications
Education: A business-related degree or equivalent. CPA qualification is considered an added advantage.
Experience: Preferably over 5 years of experience in a debt collection and recovery environment, including practical experience in lending and recovery.
Industry Knowledge: Must be knowledgeable in the financial services, microfinance, and consumer lending sectors. Knowledge in credit PayGo is an added advantage.
Technical Skills: Proficient in MS Office Suite, Power BI, and CRM systems with excellent reporting skills.
Soft Skills: Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills, with the capacity, flexibility, and willingness to work long hours and within strict deadlines.
