Job Description
The Database Administrator Manager is responsible for the strategic and operational management of the Bank’s database platforms. This role involves designing operational procedures, managing relationships with technology service providers, and ensuring that the bank's technological infrastructure keeps pace with industry innovations while maintaining high standards of data security and business continuity.
Principle Accountabilities
Procedural Design: Design and document operational manuals and procedures.
Platform Management: Undertake the day-to-day management of the Bank’s database platforms.
Innovation: Ensure assigned bank information technology platforms keep pace with technological innovations to protect technology investments.
Vendor Management: Manage relationships with technology-based service providers to optimize system uptimes.
Project Oversight: Evaluate, plan, implement, and maintain the Bank’s IT and telecommunication systems/projects within budget and time constraints.
Security & Continuity: Develop and manage a Business Continuity Plan and Data Security Plan for systems (including IT Operations).
Staff Development: Increase computer awareness and literacy among staff to enhance skills and productivity.
Operational Control: Implement monitoring mechanisms for IT services during power outages or telecommunication failures.
Service Standards: Monitor and manage service user complaints to ensure the highest standards of service.
Team Leadership: Organize and motivate staff members and partners assigned to projects through suitable structures and development programs.
Reporting: Ensure appropriate MIS are produced for IT and bank management.

Qualifications and Experience
University Degree in a technology-related field (Upper Second or equivalent).
Mandatory Certification: Database Management Certification in Oracle (OCP).
Proficiency in Project Management or ITIL.
Minimum of 7 years' experience in supporting IT systems.
4 years of experience specifically in Database Administration with an OCP certification.
2 years’ experience in Sybase, MySQL, MS-SQL, Azure Cloud, and PostgreSQL.
Proven experience in installation, setup, and troubleshooting in high-availability environments.
2 years’ experience working in UNIX and Windows environments.
2 years' experience in Banking Operations, Storage/Backup management, Data Warehousing, and ETL concepts.
Experience in Sybase or SAP HANA is an added advantage.
