Job Description
Kenya Medical Research Institute (KEMRI) is seeking a qualified Data Manager to lead data collection, management, and analysis efforts for health research projects. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing robust data collection tools, maintaining databases, and applying advanced statistical methods to ensure the scientific rigor and validity of research findings.
Key Responsibilities
Database Management: Design, develop, review, and maintain data collection tools and databases using ODK, REDCap, Epi Info, Excel, and other web- and mobile-based platforms.
Protocol & SOP Development: Develop and implement study protocols, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and Data Management Plans (DMPs), ensuring strict adherence and regulatory compliance.
Data Quality Assurance: Oversee data collection, entry, cleaning, validation, secure storage, and discrepancy resolution to ensure accuracy, completeness, integrity, and confidentiality.
Statistical Analysis: Develop comprehensive Statistical Analysis Plans (SAPs) and apply advanced statistical methods to analyze longitudinal, cohort, and multilevel datasets.
Data Governance: Ensure robust data governance and compliance with the Data Protection Act and institutional policies, including backups, security controls, and restricted access.
Reporting & Dashboards: Generate dashboards and analytical reports using Power BI, Tableau, and Excel; contribute to CRF design and statistical documentation for regulatory submissions.
Scientific Support: Prepare and submit timely monitoring reports (daily to quarterly, DSMB, sponsor) and support abstract and manuscript preparation.
Requirements and Qualifications
Bachelor of Science in Statistics (Mandatory).
Master’s degree in Statistics, Biostatistics, Epidemiology, or a related field (Mandatory).
Proficiency in statistical software packages such as SAS, STATA, R, or SPSS (Mandatory).
Minimum 3 years’ relevant professional experience (Mandatory).
Proven experience managing and analyzing large datasets, especially repeat cross-sectional surveys or longitudinal data (Mandatory).
Ability to prioritize, work under deadlines, work with minimal supervision and multitask.
Knowledge of concepts of public health, epidemiology and surveillance.
