Prime Bank Kenya is seeking a Data Centre Officer to ensure the continuous availability, security, and optimal performance of the organization’s data centre infrastructure. The successful candidate will be responsible for monitoring systems, maintaining equipment, supporting incident resolution, and enforcing operational and security standards to minimize downtime and business disruption.
Key Responsibilities
Help Desk and System Management
Manage ticket closures and updates, providing guidance on ticket flow, Change Request (CR) flow, and Root Cause Analysis (RCA) on the system.
Oversee report management and documentation for IT operations.
Provide end-user support for the Convene platform, managing Board Member users and board pack uploads.
Support the Custody department with CDSC Software user creation, maintenance, and application support.
Telephony and Call Centre Support
Monitor the Ameyo Call Centre to ensure no dropped calls and verify that email tickets are generated correctly.
Provide patch management and technical support to the call centre team to ensure maximum availability.
Administer Avaya IP Telephony systems, including user/group creation, extension recording, and ensuring SIP/E1 lines are functional.
Maintain an inventory of Avaya IP phones and assist users with setup and troubleshooting.
Server, Storage, and Backup Management
Perform maintenance, creation, deletion, and growth of Virtual Volumes.
Monitor storage devices to ensure optimal performance, managing volume lag and IOPS.
Handle replication and failover of data stores for virtual machines.
Configure and enable backups for servers and databases using Commvault, ensuring all backups are completed successfully.
Execute Business Continuity (BCP) and Disaster Recovery (DRP) tasks, including replicating Virtual Machines to the DR site and ensuring compliance with RPO and RTO targets.
Infrastructure and Maintenance
Manage patch deployment for both Windows and Linux server environments within policy periods.
Monitor the bank's website and backend services, including panel patching and SSL certificate renewals.
Supervise High Availability (HAProxy) to ensure custom names, routes, and virtual services function as expected.
Monitor and perform monthly maintenance for Data Centre AC and Airedale Units.
Security and Asset Management
Administer the Biometric system, including user onboarding and staff activation/deactivation.
Oversee VMS (Visitor Management System) installation, monthly reviews, and licensing.
Manage IT equipment inventory by assigning asset tags and scheduling preventive maintenance for UPS, stabilizers, and specialized printers (Evolis).
Coordinate hardware repairs with vendors and follow protocols for data wiping and asset disposal.
Requirements
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
2-4 years of experience in data centre operations, IT infrastructure support, or systems administration.
Familiarity with network infrastructure and connectivity troubleshooting.
Technical Skills and Certifications
Professional certifications such as ITIL Foundation, CompTIA Server+, CCNA, or VMware certifications are an added advantage.
Knowledge of storage management, backup solutions (Commvault), and containerization (OpenShift).
Proficiency in managing IP telephony (Avaya) and call centre software (Ameyo).
