The Rainforest Alliance is looking for a Data Analyst, Data Products to join our team in Nairobi. This role is part of a growing network of people inspired and committed to achieving our mission of conserving biodiversity and ensuring sustainable livelihoods. The Data Analyst will work collaboratively across departments to drive insights externally based on data, ensuring data collection and structures are fit for purpose and maintaining alignment on data metrics, quality, and ethical sharing practices.
Responsibilities
Strategic Alignment and Insights
Work collaboratively across departments to drive insights externally based on data (translating data into action).
Ensure that data requirements are considered in the beginning of strategic programs so that data collection and structure will be fit for purpose in supporting the data-as-a-product approach.
Maintain regular alignment with colleagues in the DM&I department to ensure common approaches to data metrics, quality, and ethical sharing practices.
Lead training programs to help internal stakeholders use reporting tools and deliver insights to their customers.
Lead external training projects as part of customer rollouts.
Improve reporting capabilities by sharing best practices within the DM&I department.
Roll out dashboards to the organization and support project-related rollouts.
Understand external reporting needs from different stakeholders through feedback, external reporting offerings, and overall trends in CSR, ESG, and SDG that align with RA's mission.
Identify potential biases and reporting risks by connecting with field stakeholders and providing reports to prevent these risks.
Establish a standardized and organized way of gathering regional insight and integrate it into internal reports to promote bottom-top strategies.
Identify opportunities to integrate data in an efficient, thoughtful way to maximize engagement.
Technical Delivery
Transform requests into meaningful reports and insights, including self-service capabilities for stakeholder groups.
Lead the deployment and ongoing improvement of self-service capabilities.
Develop prototypes of innovative data solutions using programming languages such as Python.
Champion automation by finding solutions that are fit for purpose and scalable.
Serve as a Power BI expert within the organization.
Handle ad-hoc reporting as prioritized by the team lead.
Requirements and Skills
A Bachelor's degree with fluency in mathematics, statistics, and/or data analysis.
At least 3+ years of experience in data reporting and analysis.
End-to-end (E2E) experience with data visualization tools like Power BI and Tableau (preference for web-embedded reporting tools).
Experience with database querying languages such as SQL.
Experience with programming languages such as Python and understanding of software engineering principles.
