The University is seeking a Curriculum Development and Reform Coordinator to lead and support the implementation of competency-based education reforms.
Role Purpose
The Curriculum Development and Reform Coordinator will be responsible for reviewing undergraduate programs, mapping learning outcomes, and ensuring alignment with national accreditation standards and institutional requirements. This role plays a critical part in the University's transition to competency-based and outcomes-based education frameworks.
Duties and Responsibilities
Curriculum Review: Assist in reviewing existing undergraduate programmes for alignment with institutional and Competency-Based Education (CBE) requirements.
Departmental Support: Support departments in restructuring course outlines and programme templates.
Resource Planning: Assist in the development of the University’s Resource Plan by gathering input from faculty on required curriculum materials, infrastructure, and digital platforms.
Documentation Management: Compile and update curriculum documentation and version control records.
Resource Bank Creation: Collect and organise examples of rubrics, portfolios, and performance tasks to create a central resource bank for lecturers.
Competency Mapping: Assist in mapping learning outcomes to competencies and ensure consistency in language and format across all faculties.
Assessment Tools: Support the development of assessment tools, including rubrics, portfolios, performance tasks, and project guidelines.
Needs Assessment: Conduct detailed needs assessment for human resources (lecturer qualifications, teaching assistants, industry mentors) by collecting and synthesising data from all departments.
Accreditation Support: Support the preparation of curriculum documentation for submission to the Commission for University Education (CUE) and other relevant bodies.
Template Design: Draft and format the 3-year degree structure templates for distribution to faculties, ensuring they adhere to the national CBE framework and guidelines.
Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E): Collect and collate data for M&E of reformed programmes, design data collection tools, manage datasets, and prepare draft reports on KPIs.
Training Coordination: Coordinate workshops, training sessions, and capacity-building engagements, handling logistics and follow-up materials.
Policy Development: Draft sections of key policy documents, including the Quality Assurance (QA) framework, grading and progression schemes, and governance structure documents.
Policy Tracking: Track changes in national policies and accreditation requirements, flagging potential impacts on the university’s reform project.
Change Management: Support the rollout of the change management plan by creating communication materials (newsletters, intranet updates, and presentations).
General Duties: Any other duties as may be assigned from time to time by the supervisor.
Requirements
Education: A Master's Degree in Curriculum Development/Studies, Assessment, Education, Educational Measurement, or a closely related discipline from a recognised University.
Experience: Minimum 3 years of progressive experience in higher education Curriculum Development, Reform, Accreditation, or Quality Assurance.
Specialized Knowledge: Experience with competence-based/Outcomes-Based Education (OBE) reforms is highly desirable.
Policy Context: Experience working within or with Kenyan higher education policy contexts and bodies, such as KICD, and knowledge of National Qualification Frameworks is advantageous.
Skills and Competencies

Skill in continuous and formative assessment design, implementation, and scaling.
Ability in change management, organisational development, and stakeholder engagement in a university context.
Excellent facilitation, negotiation, and communication skills; ability to work with diverse academic and administrative audiences.
Proficiency in data-driven decision-making, M&E design, and utilisation of educational technology tools.
