Role Overview
Bobu Africa ventures into Africa's hidden gems, tailoring unforgettable and fulfilling experiences. We are seeking a Creative Product Designer to conceptualize and design product collections inspired by African wildlife, nature, and culture. The role involves developing product sketches, technical drawings, and 3D visualizations, and working closely with artisans and production teams to translate designs into high-quality finished products.
Key Responsibilities
Conceptualize and design product collections inspired by African wildlife, nature, and culture.
Develop product sketches, technical drawings, and 3D visualizations for production.
Create digital mockups, renderings, and presentations for new product ideas.
Work closely with artisans and production teams to translate designs into high-quality finished products.
Select materials, finishes, colors, and textures that align with the brand aesthetic and functionality.
Prepare production-ready files and specifications for manufacturing.
Participate in prototyping, sampling, and product refinement processes.
Ensure all designs meet quality, usability, and cost considerations.
Collaborate with marketing and creative teams to support product storytelling and launches.
Continuously research trends, tools, and innovations in product and digital design.
Requirements and Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Product Design, Creative Design or related field.
1-2 years of experience in Creative design, preferably within a creative or lifestyle brand.
Strong portfolio showcasing product design, development process, and digital work.
High proficiency in design software: Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign) and 3D tools (SketchUp, AutoCAD, Rhino, or Fusion 360).
Ability to create technical drawings and production-ready designs.
Strong understanding of materials (such as leather, textiles, wood, or handcrafted elements).
Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving and execution skills.
A deep appreciation for African wildlife and nature, craftsmanship and storytelling.
