Job Description
Jumuia Resorts is seeking a dedicated Cook to join our team. The main purpose of this role is to prepare and provide high-quality meals while ensuring strict adherence to food safety, portion control, and nutritional standards. As a Cook, you will be central to guest satisfaction and the operational efficiency of the kitchen within our hospitality setting.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare and cook basic dishes and mise en place (sauces, vegetables, etc.) under the direction of the Chef.
Prepare dishes and garnish them before service at the pass.
Prepare breakfast, lunch, and dinner mise en place in sufficient quantity for the day’s business, including a la minute preparation where required.
Ensure all food is prepared hygienically under the highest standards of quality and presentation with minimum wastage.
Provide buffet service as needed.
Maintain a clean and orderly workspace to the highest hygiene level.
Ensure all required preparation is ready at least 30 minutes before service commences.
Work across all areas of the kitchen to gain experience in different functions.
Fully implement Jumuia Resorts SOPs and Strategic plans.
Qualifications and Requirements
Education: At least Secondary School Education (KCSE).
Professional Qualification: At least a Diploma in Food Production and Culinary Arts.
Experience: Minimum of one (1) year experience in a similar position.
Certification: Must possess a valid Food Handler certificate.
Required Skills and Competencies
Maintenance of highest hygiene standards, including correct food storage temperatures.
Strong planning, organization, and attention to detail.
High levels of drive, initiative, and creativity.
Excellent time management skills.
Proven ability to be a team player.
