Job Description
Role Overview
As a Communication Intern at the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS), you will support the operational arm of the United Nations in implementing projects for the UN System, international financial institutions, governments, and other partners. This role involves developing impactful content, managing digital platforms, supporting internal communication, and event logistics, with an emphasis on sustainability, impact, and inclusivity.
Key Responsibilities
Content Development and Research
Draft, edit, and format communication materials such as briefs, fact sheets, biannual reports, press releases, stories, talking points, and short articles aligned with UNOPS mandates and local context.
Document project milestones through written summaries, photo captions, and human-interest stories.
Maintain organized records of content, communication material assets, and documentation in Google Drive for internal use.
Digital Communications and Media Support
Manage updates and postings on the intranet and social media platforms in line with communications guidance.
Support the creation and scheduling of digital content, including posts, visuals, and short multimedia materials.
Assist in maintaining shared digital platforms and ensuring content is up to date.
Internal Communications
Support internal information sharing by drafting updates, announcements, and summaries for staff and partners.
Assist with online participation for regional meetings, including managing links, attendance, and providing basic technical support.
Prepare concise meeting notes or summaries to support internal alignment.
Event Planning and Logistic Support
Support the planning and logistical coordination of virtual and in-person meetings, workshops, and events.
Assist with event documentation, including agendas, participant lists, photos, and post-event summaries.
Liaise with vendors and service providers as needed.
Requirements and Qualifications
Education: Completed a Minimum First level university degree (Bachelor’s or equivalent), or be currently enrolled in a postgraduate program.
Eligibility: Must have graduated from university studies within three (3) years prior to the start date of the intern assignment or be currently enrolled in a graduate program.
Fields of Study: Preferably related to Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, or a similar field.
Skills: Proficiency in Content Development, Digital Media, Editing, Event Management, and Logistics Management.
Competencies: High standards of trustworthiness, commitment to diversity and inclusion, strong teamwork skills, and ability to adapt in a fast-paced environment.
