Our client is a leading wholesaler and retailer of timber and timber products sourced from within sub-Saharan Africa and other international markets. They are urgently seeking an experienced Commercial Operations Manager to support both commercial and operational functions. The successful candidate will ensure efficient order execution, production coordination, inventory control, and delivery management.
Key Responsibilities
Order Lifecycle Management: Oversee the full order lifecycle, from the receipt of Local Purchase Orders (LPOs) to final delivery and site completion.
Coordination: Liaise with clients and production teams to ensure accurate interpretation and execution of product specifications.
Team Supervision: Supervise warehouse and dispatch teams to maintain efficiency, regulatory compliance, and high-quality standards.
Production Monitoring: Monitor production schedules, identify potential constraints, and implement necessary corrective actions.
Documentation: Ensure the accuracy and compliance of all delivery documentation, including Goods Received Notes (GRNs), delivery notes, and Proof of Delivery (PODs).
Site & Sales Support: Support site coordination activities, confirm delivery timelines, and partner with the sales team to conduct operational feasibility assessments.
Process Improvement: Continuously improve order tracking, internal operational processes, and reporting.
Qualifications and Experience
Education: Degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Operations, Logistics, Procurement, or a related field.
Experience: 4 to 6 years of relevant experience specifically in manufacturing, timber, building materials, or logistics sectors.
Technical Skills: Demonstrated experience in order management, inventory control, and client coordination. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and various reporting tools is required.
Leadership: Proven ability as a team leader with strong commercial awareness and solid numerical/analytical skills.
Attributes: Highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of performing under pressure. Must be an assertive, results-driven professional with high ethical standards.
