Job Description
The Clinical Officer Specialist will offer specialized clinical services in reproductive health, critical care, paediatrics, and anaesthesia. The role involves patient assessment, emergency diagnosis, and performing surgical procedures aligned with specialized training. Key activities include reviewing patients, making appropriate referrals, and mentoring students attached to the hospital. Furthermore, the officer is responsible for preparing medical-legal reports and fulfilling duties as outlined in the Clinical Officers' scheme of service.
Responsibilities
Conduct history taking, examination, diagnosis, and treatment of emergency patients.
Carry out specialized surgical procedures in reproductive health, critical care, paediatrics, and anaesthesia as per training and skills.
Review patient progress and initiate appropriate referrals to other specialists or facilities.
Provide coaching and mentorship to students on attachment at the hospital.
Prepare and present comprehensive medical-legal reports when required.
Perform any other duties as assigned within the clinical service framework for Clinical Officers.
Qualifications and Requirements
A Higher Diploma in Clinical Medicine and Surgery in Anaesthesia, Paediatrics, Reproductive Health or Critical Care from a recognized institution.
Two years post-training experience in a busy hospital.
A Certificate of Registration from the Clinical Officers’ Council.
A Valid practicing license from the Clinical Officers Council.
A Certificate in Supervisory Skills Course lasting not less than two (2) weeks or equivalent from a recognized institution will be an added advantage.
Certificate in computer application skills will be an added advantage.
