Job Description
The Clinical Officer Specialist will provide specialized clinical services across critical care, paediatrics, reproductive health, and anaesthesia. The role involves comprehensive patient management including history taking, examination, diagnosis, and treatment of emergency patients. The successful candidate will perform surgical procedures consistent with their training, manage referrals, and contribute to the hospital's educational mission through student mentorship.
Responsibilities
Offer specialized clinical services in critical care, paediatrics, reproductive health, and anaesthesia.
Conduct history taking, physical examinations, and diagnosis for emergency and specialized patients.
Execute surgical procedures based on training and skills in specialized areas (critical care, paediatrics, reproductive health, or anaesthesia).
Review patient progress and initiate appropriate medical referrals.
Coach and mentor clinical students attached to the hospital.
Prepare and present medical-legal reports as required.
Perform any other duties as outlined in the scheme of service for Clinical Officers.
Requirements for Appointment
A Higher Diploma in Clinical Medicine and Surgery in Anaesthesia, Paediatrics, Reproductive Health, or Critical Care from a recognized institution.
At least two (2) years of post-training experience in a busy hospital setting.
A Certificate of Registration from the Clinical Officers’ Council.
A valid practicing license from the Clinical Officers Council.
A Certificate in Supervisory Skills Course (lasting not less than two weeks) or equivalent from a recognized institution is an added advantage.
A Certificate in computer application skills is an added advantage.
