Job Description
Penda Health is an award-winning startup company transforming healthcare in East Africa by building a chain of outpatient health clinics that offer evidence-based medical care and unparalleled member experience. We are looking for caring and smart Clinical Officers to join our team of evidence-based medical professionals. In this role, you will treat patients independently and make your own decisions, supported by guidelines, technology, and clinical mentors. This engagement is on an as-needed (locum) basis, and successful candidates will be contacted when opportunities become available.
Responsibilities
Provide comprehensive and high-quality clinical services including history taking, examination, and prescription of treatment.
Order investigations, interpret results for diagnosis, and explain results and intended treatments to patients.
Attend to emergencies presenting to the clinic and recommend referrals for cases that cannot be managed on-site.
Carry out minor surgical procedures according to Penda’s service schedules.
Ensure all required observations, vitals, prescribed treatments, and procedures are documented accurately on patient charts.
Create phenomenal patient experiences, including counseling and sensitizing patients through health talks on preventive and promotive health.
Embrace and develop within an evidence-based medical system following Penda’s protocols.
Perform additional tasks assigned by the Branch Manager or Clinical Officer in-charge.
Participate in continuous professional development to stay current with medical practices.
Requirements
Diploma, Higher Diploma, or BSC in Clinical Medicine.
At least 2 years of work experience after completing an internship.
Registered with the Clinical Officers Council with a valid practicing license.
Valid Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification.
