About the Role
Within delegated authority, the Clerk of Works (Electrical/Mechanical/Plumbing) will be responsible for the assessment and inspection of all works performed during construction and renovation projects. This role ensures that all installations meet technical specifications, safety standards, and contractual obligations, particularly focusing on electrical, mechanical, and plumbing (EMP) systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Assessment & Inspection: Provide assessments of all works performed, complementing the level of checks/inspections and balances during the project relevant to the area of assignment.
- Safety Coordination: Liaise and coordinate with relevant services at UNON during construction and renovation for safety inspections of premises; report and investigate accidents and recommend correction of safety or fire hazards.
- Technical Meetings: Attend all meetings relating to electrical, mechanical, plumbing, fire alarm systems, security, IT, elevators, and other related site utilities, maintaining detailed records and notes.
- Contract & Design Compliance: Maintain full knowledge of contracts, amendments, production time-schedules, designs, specifications, bills of quantities (BoQ), change orders, and quality assurance systems relevant to electro/mechanical systems.
- Material Oversight: Oversee all receipts and inspection of building materials, samples, and equipment related to the project.
- Documentation & Archiving: Develop and maintain archives of all contracts, designs, specifications, and measurement methods applied.
- Site Supervision: Maintain full-time site supervision and inspections, recording all non-compliances with contract documentation.
- Record Keeping: Ensure that the contractor records all daily events in the site diary/journal and monitor working hours, day works, and notifications of additional hours.
- Project Analysis: Monitor, analyze, and respond to construction contractors' reports and assist in evaluating change-order proposals and final project acceptances.
- Reporting: Provide weekly activity reports summarizing the status of the works.
Requirements
- Education:
- Advanced university degree (Master's degree or equivalent) in electrical or mechanical or related engineering fields is required.
- A first-level university degree in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
- Certification in PRINCE II or Project Management Professionals (PMP) is desirable.
- Completion of programs in data analytics, business analytics, or data science is desirable.
- Work Experience:
- A minimum of two (2) years progressive work experience (or four years with a first-level degree) as an Electrical/Mechanical engineer on large-size complex projects (25,000+ square metres) is required.
- Experience in a United Nations entity or similar international organization is desirable.
- Experience as a superintendent or building supervisor in at least three building projects of 10,000 m2 or more is desirable.
- Experience as an inspector of electro/mechanical and specialty systems work is desirable.
- Experience using MS Project or similar software is desirable.
