The Federation of Kenya Employers (FKE) is the voice of employers in Kenya and the umbrella body that brings together enterprises from all sectors of the economy. The Federation’s mandate is to promote the interests of employers and to influence labour and social policy to support enterprise growth and competitiveness in a dynamic global environment. FKE is seeking a Clerk of Works to serve as a vital link between the Federation and the construction team, ensuring high-quality execution of site projects.
Key Responsibilities
Site Liaison: Serve as the day-to-day FKE liaison and link with contractors, engineers, surveyors, and the entire Consulting teams at the Construction site.
Contract Review: Review Contract Documents with the Contractor on behalf of the Federation.
Inspection: Inspect construction work to ensure it meets standards and health and safety requirements.
Quality Control: Observe the quality and progress of the construction to determine that it is proceeding in accordance with the Contracts; notify the Federation and the Consulting team of any deviations.
Drawings Comparison: Inspect construction work and compare it with drawings and specifications.
Material Checking: Measure and check the quality of building materials used on-site.
Defect Management: Identify defects and suggest effective ways to correct them.
Progress Reporting: Monitor progress and assist in the preparation of detailed progress reports for FKE and the Consulting team.
Documentation: Confirm plans and document work, along with measurements and samples.
Regulatory Compliance: Ensure that building regulations, legal requirements, and ecological requirements are strictly adhered to.
Project Meetings: Attend project meetings as the Federation's representative and provide written reports.
Site Records: Maintain detailed records of work at the construction site as directed by the Federation.
Financial Review: Review Applications for Payment submitted by consultants.
Completion: Assist the Federation in the final inspection of work and review the documentation to be furnished upon project completion.
Risk Management: Liaise with consultants to ensure appropriate financial, commercial, and legal risks relating to the project are documented.
Qualifications and Experience
A Degree in Engineering, Architecture, Surveying, Building Construction, or a related field.
Candidates with a Higher Diploma in the same fields and at least 4 years of experience will also be considered.
Minimum of 3 years of experience in the Construction Industry.
At least 1 year of experience serving specifically as a Clerk of Works or Supervisor on a large construction site.
A proven track record of successfully handling construction projects.
