Job Description
Role Overview
Reporting to the Director Communication, the Chief Protocol/ Senior Reception Officer is responsible for organizing and coordinating official events, ensuring high-level etiquette, and managing communication between the County Government and its stakeholders. The role involves managing guest relations, protocol procedures for state functions, and maintaining positive public relations for the Office of the Governor and the County Government.
Responsibilities
Organize and coordinate official county events and functions.
Coordinate arrangements for press coverage during official functions.
Facilitate linkages with other institutions and organizations.
Ensure efficient and effective communication with stakeholders and visitors to the office of the Governor and/or County Government.
Ensure adherence to proper etiquette for all official engagements.
Liaise with State Departments and other Counties on the preparation of programs for official, presidential, and state functions.
Update and maintain the official government guest list.
Design seating plans for official, presidential, and state functions.
Vet visitors and provide relevant information to them.
Maintain high standards of public relations within Government offices.
Liaise with State Departments, Agencies, and private institutions regarding flag protocol.
Identify appropriate state gifts and collect invitation cards or car stickers for national days and state functions.
Prepare guest lists and seating arrangements as required.
Perform any other duties assigned by the Director of Communication.
Requirements and Qualifications
Must be a Kenyan citizen.
Bachelor’s degree in Public Relations, Public Administration, Political Science, or any other related field.
At least five (5) years of relevant working experience.
Strong knowledge of office management, procedures, and practices.
High proficiency in both written and verbal communication.
Certificate in computer applications from a recognized institution.
Must satisfy the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution of Kenya.
Mandatory Clearances
Successful candidates will be required to provide evidence of clearance from:
Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA)
Ethics and Anti-corruption Commission (EACC)
Criminal Investigation Department (Certificate of Good Conduct)
Higher Education Loans Board (HELB)
Credit Reference Bureau (CRB)
