The Role
Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the Chief Operating Officer (COO) is a key member of the senior leadership team at Braeburn Schools Limited. The role is responsible for translating the school's strategic objectives into operational outcomes, providing executive oversight of operations, and driving performance, efficiency, and continuous improvement across the business.
The COO holds accountability for the full breadth of operational functions — spanning Transport, Procurement, Catering, Technical Operations, and Braeburn Services — ensuring these functions operate cohesively and in direct support of the educational mission and growth ambitions.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Leadership: Provide strategic leadership and direction for operations and facilities; play a key role in shaping operational strategy and supporting future expansion.
- Infrastructure Evaluation: Continuously evaluate operational infrastructure, identify gaps, and propose projects to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and maintain brand positioning.
- Strategy Implementation: Develop and implement operational plans aligned with the business plan and achievement of targets.
- Stakeholder Management: Build and sustain relationships with key stakeholders to drive efficiency; forge and manage strategic partnerships.
- Team Development: Direct, motivate, and develop support management teams to ensure efficient day-to-day delivery of services across the group.
- Functional Oversight: Provide oversight to Procurement, Fleet, Catering, Braeburn Services, and Theatre Service functions.
- Financial Collaboration: Work with the CFO to provide oversight of annual operating budgets, driving sustainability and cost savings.
- Compliance & Standards: Ensure all aspects of operations and facilities are monitored against required standards and compliance requirements.
- Best Practices: Champion operational best practices, policies, and procedures; foster collaboration and knowledge-sharing across schools.
- Reporting: Prepare regular reports for the CEO on operational performance and strategic developments.
Qualifications and Experience
- Master’s degree in Business Management, Operations Management, or a related field.
- At least ten (10) years of experience working in a busy environment.
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience in a managerial position.
- Proven experience organizing and directing multiple teams and departments.
- Experience with budget management and project coordination.
- Experience in planning and leading strategic initiatives.
