Job Description
The Independent Policing Oversight Authority (IPOA) is seeking to recruit a Chief Driver. This role is responsible for providing transport services in an effective and efficient manner, ensuring organizational mobility while maintaining high standards of vehicle safety and maintenance.
Key Responsibilities
Driving the organization’s vehicles as authorized.
Carrying out routine checks on the assigned vehicle and reporting any malfunction of vehicle systems and other occurrences.
Liaising with the Fleet Assistant to ensure that the vehicles are regularly checked and maintained.
Maintaining the movement of work tickets for the assigned vehicle(s).
Maintaining security and safety of the vehicle both on and off the road.
Reporting all accidents and incidents promptly to the relevant IPOA offices.
Administering first aid in the event of an accident.
Maintaining cleanliness of the vehicle.
Coaching and mentoring junior drivers.
Knowledge, Experience, and Qualifications
Served for a cumulative minimum period of eleven (11) years, with at least three (3) years at the grade of Senior Driver (IPOA 10) or in a comparable position.
Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) mean grade of D (Plain) or its equivalent qualification.
Valid driving license.
Defensive Driving Certificate from the Automobile Association (AA) of Kenya or its equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.
Trade Test for Drivers.
Completion of a refresher course for drivers lasting not less than one (1) week every three (3) years.
First-Aid Course Certificate (lasting not less than one week) from Kenya Institute of Highway and Building Technology (KIHBT) or any other recognized institution.
A valid Certificate of Good Conduct.
Occupational Trade Tests I for Drivers.
Proficiency in computer applications.
An accident-free driving period of at least four (4) years.
Demonstrated merit and ability as reflected in work performance and results.
