Job Description
The National Youth Service (NYS) is seeking to recruit qualified Kenyan youth as Cadet Officers in the Information Communication Technology department. This role is a premier opportunity for young professionals to serve the nation while developing their potential in a disciplined, paramilitary environment. The position is offered on Permanent and Pensionable terms and includes benefits such as the SHA Medical Scheme for Civil Servants. Successful candidates will be responsible for managing digital infrastructure and supporting the organization's technological goals.
Responsibilities and Duties
Manage and maintain Information Communication Technology systems and organizational infrastructure.
Implement robust cybersecurity measures to protect sensitive service data and digital operations.
Provide technical support and troubleshooting for software and hardware issues across the service.
Assist in the development, deployment, and optimization of ICT solutions for organizational efficiency.
Undergo and successfully complete nine (9) months of mandatory paramilitary training at the NYS Training College.
Adhere to the discipline, rules, and regulations of the National Youth Service as a uniformed officer.
Requirements and Qualifications
Must be a Kenyan citizen.
Must be in possession of a Bachelor’s Degree in any of the following disciplines: Computer Science, Information Communication Technology, Cybersecurity, or an equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.
Minimum KCSE grade of C+ (plus).
Be between 18 and 28 years of age.
Be in possession of a valid Kenyan National Identity Card (ID) and KRA PIN Certificate.
Have no criminal record.
Must be medically fit for paramilitary duties.
Certificate in computer application skills from a recognized institution.
Meet the requirements of Chapter Six (6) of the Constitution of Kenya.
Terms of Service
Salary: As per the existing NYS salary scale.
Medical Cover: SHA Scheme for Civil Servants.
Tenure: Permanent & Pensionable.
