Role Overview
The National Youth Service (NYS) is seeking to recruit qualified Kenyan youth for the position of ICT Assistant III (Cadet Officers). This is a permanent and pensionable role that combines professional ICT service with paramilitary duty. Candidates will support the organization's technological infrastructure and must be prepared to undergo rigorous training to serve the nation.
Key Responsibilities
Assisting in the installation, configuration, and maintenance of computer hardware and software systems.
Providing technical support and troubleshooting for staff on ICT-related issues.
Assisting in the management of local area networks (LAN) and ensuring stable internet connectivity.
Ensuring data security and regular backups of organization information.
Maintaining an inventory of ICT equipment and performing routine hardware servicing.
Supporting the implementation of new ICT projects and digital transformation initiatives within the service.
Requirements and Qualifications
Citizenship: Must be a Kenyan citizen.
Age: Must be between 18 and 28 years old.
Academic Qualification: Minimum of KCSE grade C- (Minus) for Diploma holders or C+ (Plus) for Bachelor's Degree holders.
Professional Qualification: Diploma in Computer Science, Information Communication Technology, Computer Engineering, or an equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.
Skills: Certificate in computer application skills from a recognized institution.
Compliance: Must meet the requirements of Chapter six (6) of the Constitution (integrity).
Documentation: Possession of a valid Kenyan National Identity Card (ID) and KRA PIN Certificate.
Fitness: Candidates must be medically fit and have no criminal record.
Training: Successful candidates MUST undergo a mandatory nine (9) months NYS Paramilitary training at the NYS Training College.
Terms of Service
Terms: Permanent & Pensionable.
Salary: As per the existing National Youth Service salary scale.
Medical: Covered under the SHA Scheme for Civil Servants.
