The National Youth Service (NYS) is seeking to recruit four (4) Finance Officers as Cadet Officers. The National Youth Service is a premier agency through which the Government executes an elaborate youth empowerment master plan. This role is offered on permanent and pensionable terms, providing an opportunity for youth to serve the nation while developing their professional financial careers within a disciplined service environment.
Responsibilities
Manage and maintain accurate financial records and transactions.
Assist in budget preparation, monitoring, and financial reporting.
Ensure compliance with government financial regulations and the Public Finance Management Act.
Support internal and external audit processes.
Perform any other duties assigned within the Finance department while maintaining paramilitary discipline.
General Requirements
Must be a Kenyan citizen.
Must be aged between 18 and 28 years.
Must possess a valid Kenyan National Identity Card (ID) and KRA PIN Certificate.
Must be medically fit and have no criminal record.
Successful candidates MUST undergo a mandatory nine (9) months NYS Paramilitary training at the NYS Training College.
Must have a Certificate in computer application skills from a recognized institution.
Must meet the requirements of Chapter six (6) of the Kenyan Constitution.
Academic and Professional Qualifications
A Bachelor’s Degree in Commerce (Finance option) or Business Management (Finance Option) from a recognized institution; OR
A Bachelor’s Degree in Economics or Business Administration PLUS professional certification in Certified Public Accountant (CPA) K, Association of Chartered Accountants (ACCA), or Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA).
Minimum KCSE grade of C+ (plus) for Cadet entry.
Terms of Service
Salary and Allowances: As per the existing NYS salary scale.
Medical Cover: SHA Scheme for Civil Servants.
Terms: Permanent & Pensionable.
