The National Youth Service (NYS) is seeking to recruit Cadet Officers to serve as Auditors. This is a permanent and pensionable role within the government service, offering a medical cover under the SHA Scheme of Civil Servants. Successful candidates will be required to undergo a mandatory nine-month paramilitary training program at the NYS Training College in Ruaraka. The role is designed for young, medically fit Kenyan citizens who meet the academic and professional standards for public service audit functions.
Responsibilities and Duties
While specific daily duties are aligned with the NYS salary scale and internal structures, the role generally involves:
Conducting internal audits to ensure compliance with financial regulations.
Examining and verifying financial records, budgets, and statements.
Evaluating internal control systems and recommending improvements to mitigate risks.
Ensuring all financial operations adhere to government standards and NYS policies.
Preparing comprehensive audit reports and providing professional advice to management.
Participating in paramilitary duties as required by the service.
General Requirements
Be a Kenyan citizen.
Must possess a Bachelor’s Degree and a minimum KCSE grade of C+ (plus).
Be aged between 18 and 28 years.
Be in possession of a valid Kenyan National Identity Card (ID) and KRA PIN Certificate.
Have no criminal record and be medically fit.
Certificate in computer application skills from a recognized institution.
Meet the requirements of Chapter six (6) of the Constitution regarding leadership and integrity.
Minimum Academic and Professional Qualifications
Be in possession of a Bachelor’s Degree in Commerce (Accounting or Finance option) and passed part II of the Certified Public Accountant (CPA) Examination; OR
Passed Part III of the Certified Public Accountant (CPA) (K) Examination or its approved equivalent qualification.
