BANK OF AFRICA - KENYA LIMITED (BOA-KENYA) is a commercial bank providing banking services to corporate, SME and retail clientele. The Business Systems Support Officer is a critical role responsible for maintaining the reliability, availability, and performance of the bank's core and auxiliary systems.
Responsibilities and Accountabilities
- End-of-Day Batch Processing: Execute batch processing on all systems requiring this procedure, including Core Banking, Clearing System, and Recoveries System.
- Service Availability: Ensure uptime and accessibility for all channels and business applications. This includes proactive system monitoring, ensuring proper failover/redundancy, and maintaining servers on the latest stable versions of OS, applications, and databases.
- Risk Management: Minimize operational risk by implementing risk management practices, closing audit findings, adhering to backup procedures, and performing regular disaster recovery tests.
- Service Desk Management: Close business systems-related tickets according to Service Level Agreements (SLAs) by prioritizing tasks, monitoring queues, and escalating issues to vendors while keeping internal customers informed.
- Systems Monitoring: Conduct scheduled health checks and proactively identify/address areas of inefficiency or bottlenecks to ensure system stability.
- Project Implementation: Ensure successful implementation of IT business systems projects by meeting milestones and participating in testing for inter-departmental projects.
- Incident Management: Document and track incidents, identify root causes, and implement preventive measures.
- First Level Support: Promptly address user issues and provide technical assistance by troubleshooting and diagnosing incoming requests for all business systems.
- Documentation and Reporting: Maintain comprehensive records of business systems inventory for accountability and asset management.
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or any IT-related field.
- Minimum two years’ experience supporting business applications, including database administration.
- Thorough knowledge of Oracle 11g and above, MySQL, and MSSQL.
- Knowledge of other modern databases is an added advantage.
