Job Description
Role Overview
The purpose of the Business Origination Manager (Food & Agriculture Sector) is to conduct preliminary reviews and package SME and Corporate Food & Agriculture (F&A) credit files. This ensures compliance and appraisal completeness prior to presentation to the credit risk department.
Key Responsibilities
Credit Proposal Management: Prepare and analyze F&A credit proposals for presentation to the Executive Committee (EXCO).
Risk Presentation: Present F&A business cases to the credit risk department and, when necessary, to credit committees.
Policy & Template Development: Participate in the development of the F&A risk policy and continuously review the F&A business template.
Client Profiling: Create, maintain, and review F&A client profiling criteria and develop business review matrices for various value chains.
Strategic Advisory: Advise on industry trends and subsector business matrices within the F&A sector.
Portfolio Review: Continually review the Food & Agriculture business portfolio and conduct stress testing based on prevailing and emerging industry risk factors.
Compliance: Develop and maintain an updated F&A environmental and social compliance policy.
Staff Development: Train branch staff and support the resolution of credit risk issues as they arise.
Qualifications and Experience
Education: Holder of a Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in agriculture-related courses such as Agricultural Economics, Agribusiness, Food Sciences, Technology, Agriculture Finance, or a related field.
Professional Certifications: AKIB/ACIB/CPA/ACCA/Credit Management or CFA would be an added advantage.
Professional Experience: At least eight (8) years of relevant experience in the Food & Agriculture sector, five (5) of which must be in technical Credit Analysis.
Technical Skills: Ability to analyze financial statements presented by customers and summarize them into standard appraisal templates/systems.
Analytical Depth: Expertise in analyzing various industries and macro-environmental factors as they relate to client requests under review.
Mentorship: Proven ability to identify SME and Corporate capacity gaps in bank staff, and provide training, mentoring, and coaching for performance improvement.
Tooling: Continuously analyze the industry and macro-environmental factors and keep updated F&A analysis toolkits.
