Job Description
The Busara Center for Behavioral Economics is an advisory and research organization focused on evaluating and implementing behavioral interventions in understudied countries and populations. Our mission is to work with researchers and organizations to advance and apply behavioral science in pursuit of poverty alleviation.
The Role
The Business Intelligence Analyst Consultant will collaborate closely with the Embe project team and the Busara research team, engaging with developers to perform a variety of tasks focused on the agriculture sector. This role involves conducting market analysis, managing stakeholder networks, and translating business intelligence into technology solutions aimed at digital transformation and product innovation.
Key Responsibilities
Market Analysis: Conduct in-depth market analysis to identify trends, gaps, and opportunities in the agriculture sector, with a focus on digital transformation.
Stakeholder Management: Maintain and leverage an extensive network with key stakeholders, agribusinesses, farmer organizations, and government or development partners.
Data-Driven Strategy: Gather, analyze, and present data on user and market needs to inform product requirements, roadmaps, and strategic decisions.
Cross-functional Collaboration: Work with product managers, researchers, engineers, and designers to translate business intelligence into effective technology solutions for the agriculture sector.
Risk and Growth Assessment: Identify risks and recommend strategies for market entry, growth, and competitive differentiation.
Ecosystem Monitoring: Track competitors, new entrants, and external factors impacting the agriculture ecosystem and digital product uptake.
Reporting: Develop regular reports and actionable dashboards for the leadership team and product stakeholders.
Project Support: Contribute to the design, execution, and dissemination of the Embe project and participate in fieldwork as required.
Requirements and Expertise
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Statistics, Agricultural Economics, Agribusiness, or a related field.
Experience: At least 5 years’ experience in market analysis, business intelligence, or research, with a strong focus on the agriculture sector in Kenya.
Technical Alignment: Demonstrated experience supporting technology or software product development teams.
Professional Network: Established professional network in the regional agriculture space (e.g., with cooperatives, value chain actors, government bodies, NGOs).
Soft Skills: Excellent communication, data visualization, and presentation skills.
Tool Proficiency: Strong knowledge of data analysis tools (Excel, SQL, BI platforms, R, Python).
