The Business Analyst – Finance role is situated within the Finance Department of Oxygene Marketing Communications Ltd. This role is crucial for providing financial insights, business intelligence, performance analysis, and process optimization to support strategic and operational decision-making across the agency. The primary objective is to enhance visibility into agency performance, identify areas for improvement, and strengthen overall financial planning capabilities.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
Financial Insights & Business Performance Analysis:
- Analyze revenue trends, client profitability, cost structures, utilization rates, and operational Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
- Prepare comprehensive insights dashboards for department heads and leadership.
- Support forecasting activities through detailed data modelling and performance tracking.
- Identify financial risks, operational inefficiencies, and opportunities for growth.
Budgeting & Forecast Support (Analytical, Not Operational):
- Support the Finance Director by providing analytical inputs essential for budgeting and quarterly forecasts.
- Offer data-driven recommendations concerning spending patterns, resourcing needs, and operational efficiency.
- Track KPIs against the budget and prepare variance insights (analytical support, not accounting entries).
Strategic Decision Support:
- Conduct scenario and sensitivity analysis to inform decisions regarding pricing, capacity planning, and investments.
- Assist in developing business cases for significant operational changes, the launch of new services, or process improvements.
- Provide crucial insights to support the commercial strategy and performance reviews.
Process Improvement & Operational Efficiency:
- Map and analyze key workflows within the Finance department, including job bag processes, approval flows, and reporting structures.
- Recommend concrete improvements to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and collaboration across various teams.
- Support digitization initiatives and improvements in critical systems like ERP and project management tools.
Client & Campaign Insight Support (Finance Perspective):
- Collaborate with Account Management and Strategy teams to rigorously evaluate the financial performance of campaigns.
- Prepare insights focused on cost efficiency, Return on Investment (ROI) trends, and client-level financial performance.
- Assist with financial modelling during client pitches and contract renewals.
Cross-Functional Data Collaboration:
- Work closely with Operations teams on capacity analysis and resource planning.
- Support the Human Resources department with analytics related to manpower costs, team utilization, and productivity.
- Collaborate with the Assistant Finance Manager to ensure performance insights are aligned with actual financial results.
Reporting Tools & Data Governance:
- Develop automated dashboards utilizing available agency tools.
- Ensure the highest level of data accuracy and integrity across all financial and operational datasets.
- Help maintain robust reporting frameworks and documentation.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Data Analytics, Statistics, or a related field (ACCA & CPA required).
- 10+ years of cumulative experience in accounting.
- 2 – 4 years’ specific experience in business analysis, data analysis, or financial planning.
- Experience working in the advertising, media, or creative agency sector is considered a significant advantage.
- Proficiency in Excel/Google Sheets and data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau).
- A strong understanding of financial statements and agency commercial models (such as retainers, job bags, and media billing) is highly preferred.
- Demonstrated strong analytical skills and the ability to accurately interpret complex data.
