Job Description
The Business Analyst 1 (Data Analysis) at the Central Bank of Kenya is responsible for the collection and analysis of the performance and health of payment systems within the country. This role involves managing the lifecycle of National Payment System (NPS) returns, ensuring data integrity, and producing analytical insights that support the Bank's mandate in promoting financial stability.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Technical and Operational Oversight: Review and design NPS returns templates and ensure the timely submission of these returns.
Systems Implementation: Help implement an integrated information system for the electronic submission of NPS returns.
Data Processing and Reporting: Ensure that all received data is processed correctly to generate standard reports. This includes designing and producing periodic standard analytical reports.
Data Verification and Analysis: Perform detailed analysis and verification of payment data. Interpret data and analyze results using statistical techniques to provide ongoing reports.
Strategy and Optimization: Develop and implement payment system databases, data collection systems, and other data analytics strategies that optimize statistical efficiency and quality.
Market Insight: Acquire data from primary or secondary sources to enhance payment system information and identify, analyze, and interpret trends or patterns in complex data sets.
Data Quality Control: Filter and "clean" data by reviewing computer reports and performance indicators to locate and correct data errors.
Process Improvement: Work with management to prioritize business and information needs, and locate new opportunities for process improvements.
Research: Draft research papers and basic reports based on the analysis of collected data.
Other Duties: Perform any other duties as assigned by the Manager.
Requirements
Academic Qualification: Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field such as Mathematics, Economics, or Statistics.
Work Experience: At least two (2) years’ experience in Payments and Banking operations or a related functional area.
Added Advantage: Professional qualifications and memberships in relevant bodies are considered a plus.
