Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH) is seeking a Breakthrough Program Research Officer to support a research study in Nairobi County. The Research Officer will be responsible for recruiting and enrolling participants into the study in selected health care facilities in Nairobi County, directly reporting to the Study Coordinator.
Specific Tasks and Responsibilities
- Screening, recruiting and enrolling eligible participants to the study as per study guidelines.
- Collect data per approved Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Input collected data into the Android tablet system (REDCap).
- Ensure that data collected is accurate, complete, securely handled, and stored in accordance with study SOPs, Good Clinical Practice (GCP) and confidentiality stipulations.
- Prepare daily clinic summaries of the screened and enrolled study participants.
- Ensuring that the study participants receive the appropriate interventions and procedures.
- Ensure that the study participants are compliant with the study procedures.
- Demonstrate an understanding of the study SOPs.
- Ensure compliance with the SOPs at all times during the study procedures.
- Train the facility staff on PM+.
- Submit twice-weekly summaries of recruitment and enrollment into the study to the study Coordinator.
- Complete data capture forms monthly documenting changes to study strategies.
Essential Requirements
- Must have a Diploma in Community Health, Social Work or Counselling Psychology from a recognized institution.
- Must be fluent in English and Kiswahili (common languages among research participants).
- Must have at least two (2) years of research experience.
- Must have excellent skills in REDCap for data collection.
- Must be conversant with the study area – Nairobi County.
- Should have excellent computer skills.
- MUST have a certificate in Good Clinical Practice and Human Subjects Protection valid for the next 48 months of the date of this advert.
- Excellent communication skills: Must be able to communicate regularly with the study coordinator via email and Zoom.
- Team player with the ability to work closely with other study staff at the site.
