The Branch Accountant is responsible for maintaining the financial and operational integrity of the branch. This dual-focused role involves rigorous oversight of daily financial transactions, including cash and mobile money reconciliations, as well as comprehensive inventory management. The successful candidate will lead support staff, ensure showroom readiness through proper product assembly and tagging, and maintain strict data integrity within ERP systems to facilitate clear branch performance reporting.
Key Responsibilities
Cash Management & Reconciliation
Monitor daily cash collections and ensure proper accountability.
Reconcile cash, M-Pesa, and bank deposits daily.
Ensure strict adherence to cash handling policies and controls.
Investigate and resolve any cash variances immediately.
Stock & Inventory Accountability
Maintain 100% alignment between system records and physical stock.
Monitor all stock movements (inbound, transfers, sales, and returns).
Lead regular stock counts and audits.
Flag and resolve discrepancies promptly with clear accountability.
Damages Control
Track damaged, missing, or misplaced stock with a clear incident log.
Work with operations to reduce losses and improve handling practices.
Ensure timely escalation and corrective actions.
Systems Compliance & Reporting
Capture all transactions accurately in the ERP system.
Maintain high data integrity across sales, stock, and finance records.
Generate daily, weekly, and monthly branch performance reports.
Support audits with complete and accurate documentation.
Leadership, Management & Accountability (LMA)
Lead and guide stock clerks and support teams on stock handling and compliance.
Drive a culture of discipline, ownership, and accountability.
Collaborate with the branch team to ensure smooth daily operations.
Product Coding & Showroom Readiness
Ensure all products are correctly coded in the system and displayed with accurate price tickets.
Oversee the safe assembly of furniture to meet quality standards.
Confirm that the showroom floor is fully sellable at all times.
Qualifications and Experience
Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
CPA qualification (Part 3 or above preferred).
2–4 years of experience in retail accounting, stock control, or finance.
Proficiency in working with ERP systems in fast-paced environments.
