Job Description
The Kenya Medical Research Institute (KEMRI) is a State Corporation established as a National body responsible for carrying out health research in Kenya. We are seeking a Biostatistician/Bioinformatics professional to contribute to health research projects. The role involves applying valid scientific techniques to design research projects, structuring efficient analyses using historical data, and adapting statistical methods to solve complex problems in biomedicine and related fields.
Key Responsibilities
Research Design: Contribute to designing research projects using valid scientific techniques and baseline/historical data to structure efficient analyses.
Data Planning: Assist in planning data collection methods and determining sample group types and sizes for specific projects.
Statistical Adaptation: Help adapt statistical methods to solve specific problems in biomedicine and related fields.
Experimental Support: Develop and test experimental designs, sampling techniques, and analytical methods.
Data Interpretation: Support the analysis and interpretation of statistical data to identify significant differences and relationships.
Validation: Evaluate statistical methods and procedures to ensure data validity, applicability, efficiency, and accuracy.
Trend Identification: Identify relationships and trends in data and recognize factors that could affect research results.
Data Processing: Organize information, check for inaccuracies, and adjust raw data for processing.
Reporting: Report results of statistical analyses using graphs, charts, and tables for various audiences.
Computational Analysis: Process large amounts of data for statistical modeling and graphic analysis using computers.
Requirements and Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Biostatistics, Informatics, Computer Science, or an equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.
