The Biomedical Technologist will be responsible for carrying out routine checks, repairs, preventive maintenance, and calibration/verification of biomedical equipment to ensure optimal functionality across the hospital.
Responsibilities
Install, inspect, repair, and maintain biomedical equipment in ICU, Theatre, Renal, Radiology Laboratory, Physical Medicine, and Wards in accordance with manufacturers' recommendations and international standards (ISO 13485, ISO 14971, IEC 60601).
Perform daily routine checks of critical systems including oxygen PSA, compressor plants, manifolds, vacuum plants, Reverse Osmosis Plants, dialysis machines, and theatre equipment (e.g., anesthesia machines).
Maintain accurate records of checklists, job cards, PPM schedules, and completed tasks.
Calibrate equipment using specialized tools like Fluke ProSim 8 to ensure correct parameters.
Create and update test procedures for biomedical equipment following established guidelines.
Participate in equipment or process validation activities.
Ensure all medical equipment complies with environmental, health, and occupational safety regulations.
Supervise repairs on equipment handled by contracted external suppliers.
Prepare daily reports on maintenance and repair activities.
Undertake any other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Requirements
Diploma in Biomedical Engineering or a related field from a recognized institution.
A minimum of 3 years of relevant professional experience.
Certified training in the installation, service, and calibration of medical equipment.
Skills and Competencies
Proficiency in biomedical technology and equipment maintenance.
In-depth knowledge of radiology, ICU, and other specialized hospital machinery.
Strong analytical and resource planning skills.
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
High level of integrity, accountability, and ability to work in a team.
Ability to handle long working hours when necessary.
Proficiency in computer applications.
