Role Overview
The Biomedical Technician is responsible for ensuring the proper functioning, safety, and sound condition of all medical equipment within AAR Hospital. The primary objective of this role is to ensure that all medical devices are in optimum working condition and available for use at all times to support patient care and clinical operations.
Duties and Responsibilities
Technology Evaluation: Assess and evaluate state-of-the-art technology for medical equipment.
Vendor Management: Collaborate with vendors to ensure continuous back-up service support.
Supply Chain Liaison: Coordinate with the procurement department to guarantee the availability of spare parts and consumables.
Safety Assurance: Ensure all equipment recommended for patient use meets safety standards.
Maintenance & Repairs: Perform preventive maintenance and repairs for equipment in the ICU, Theatres, Renal unit, Laboratory, wards, and other hospital areas.
PPM Implementation: Develop and implement effective Planned Preventive Maintenance (PPM) schedules to minimize equipment downtime.
Record Keeping: Maintain detailed records of job cards, PPM schedules, and all maintenance tasks performed.
Training: Conduct training sessions for staff on the proper use and handling of medical equipment.
Asset Management: Receive and inspect new equipment in collaboration with the users, Finance, and Security departments.
General Support: Carry out any other duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications and Experience
Education: Diploma in Medical Engineering from a recognized institution.
Experience: A minimum of 2 years of experience in the same field.
Licensing: Valid membership and a practicing license in the related field.
