The Biomedical Engineer I (Physiochemical Analysis) at the National Quality Control Laboratory (NQCL) works under the supervision of a senior officer to maintain and repair laboratory equipment. This role is essential for ensuring that all medical instruments, plants, and utilities are operational to support the laboratory's medicines quality control mandate.
Job Specifications
Duties and responsibilities at this level entail:
Performing routine maintenance and repairs of basic biomedical equipment, plants, furniture, instruments and utilities in the Laboratory.
Installing basic medical equipment, instruments and furniture.
Documenting information related to biomedical engineering services.
Collecting, compiling and disseminating data on biomedical engineering services.
Preparing and submitting periodic reports.
Performing regularly testing of new technology, equipment and instruments.
Managing inventory of medical equipment, furniture and plants.
Requisitioning and ordering spare parts and consumables.
Participating in designing, managing and implementing engineering programs and projects.
Participating in biomedical engineering research and training.
Promoting and advising on the use of appropriate engineering technologies.
Person Specifications
Cumulative service period of three (3) years at the grade of Biomedical Engineer II or in a comparable position.
Bachelor degree in Biomedical Engineering or its equivalent from a recognized institution.
Registration with a relevant professional body.
Proficiency in computer applications.
