Automotive Fabrication Technician

Job Responsibilities

• Disassemble, repair, and reassemble vehicles that have been in accidents.
• Fabricate body parts and brackets out of aluminum and steel.
• Work with the body/paint technician to bring the vehicle to like-new condition.
• Assist management in estimating damages and writing the accident quote.

Minimum Requirements

• A high school diploma or equivalent is required (BA/BSc/HND qualification is also accepted).
• At least 3 years of experience in welding/fabrication within the fabrication and body welding or automotive/truck repair business.
• Proficient in aluminum and steel sheet and structural welding.
• Ability to use a plasma cutter and acetylene/oxygen torches.
• Ability to use welding procedures for different types of aluminum and steel.
• Limited electrical knowledge needed.
• Must be in possession of a valid passport and able to travel internationally.
• Passport should be valid for at least one (1) year at the time of hire.
• Ability to work under limited supervision.
• Ability to successfully pass contract medical requirements and maintain requirements for the duration of deployment.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization.

Preferred Qualifications

• Thorough knowledge of different types of compositions of aluminum and steel. Steel and aluminum structure certification is preferable.
• Ability to make parts out of flat sheeting.
• Ability to minimize material waste.
• Previous work experience in an austere OCONUS environment with a multi-national workforce.
• Excellent organizational, time management, and customer service skills.
• Valid country driver's license.
• Country visa (as required in line with the U.S. Department of State Foreign Clearance Guide).

Physical Requirements

• Regularly required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and talk or hear.
• Frequently is required to walk; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and work in tiring and uncomfortable positions.
• Occasionally required to sit, climb or balance, and taste or smell.
• Frequently lifts items weighing 15-25 pounds and occasionally in excess of 45 pounds.
• Frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts, extreme heat, and vibration.
• Occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; outside weather conditions; extreme cold; and risk of electrical shock.
• The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
