Amentum is seeking an Automotive Fabrication Technician to disassemble, repair, and reassemble vehicles, and fabricate custom body parts. This position requires a blend of fabrication expertise and teamwork to return damaged vehicles to like-new condition.
Key Responsibilities
Disassemble, repair, and reassemble vehicles that have been involved in accidents.
Fabricate body parts and brackets out of aluminum and steel.
Collaborate with the body/paint technician to restore vehicles to like-new condition.
Assist management in estimating damages and writing accident quotes.
Minimum Requirements
A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
At least 3 years of welding/fabrication experience in fabrication, body welding, or the automotive/truck repair business.
Proficient in aluminum and steel sheet and structural welding.
Ability to use a plasma cutter and acetylene/oxygen torches.
Competence in utilizing welding procedures for different types of aluminum and steel.
Limited electrical knowledge required.
Must possess a valid passport (valid for at least one year at the time of hire) and be able to travel internationally.
Ability to work under limited supervision.
Ability to successfully pass contract medical requirements and maintain them for the duration of deployment.
Must be able to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization.
Preferred Qualifications
Thorough knowledge of different types and compositions of aluminum and steel. Steel and aluminum structure certification is highly preferred.
Ability to create parts out of flat sheeting.
Ability to minimize material waste.
Previous work experience in an austere OCONUS environment with a multi-national workforce.
Excellent organizational, time management, and customer service skills.
Valid driver's license.
Country visa (as required in line with the U.S. Department of State Foreign Clearance Guide).
Physical Requirements
Regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to handle/feel, and work in tiring and uncomfortable positions (stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling).
Frequently lifts items weighing 15-25 pounds and occasionally in excess of 45 pounds.
Frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts, extreme heat, and vibration.
Regularly works in environments with loud noise levels.
