Role Overview
Amentum is a global leader in designing, engineering, and modernizing critical systems and programs of national importance across defense, security, intelligence, energy, and the environment. We are seeking an Automotive Body Repairer to join our team in Lamu. The successful candidate will be responsible for repairing vehicles according to estimates and manufacturer standards, ensuring all safety and quality protocols are followed in a collaborative, professional environment.
Responsibilities
- Repairs vehicles per estimate and according to manufacturer standards.
- Checks parts against estimate and ensures proper parts are ordered and received.
- Prepares vehicles for body repair work.
- Notifies management of any additional repairs needed or any difficulties that may prevent a quality job or cause a change in the promised time.
- Maintains tools and equipment in a proper state of repair.
- Maintains and wears all required safety and health personal protective equipment (PPE), including respirators.
- Complies with all laws and regulations pertaining to paint, thinners, and other hazardous materials, reporting any deviations to management.
- Cooperates and assists other personnel in the repair and prepping of vehicles.
- Understands and complies with federal, state, and local regulations that affect body shop operations, such as hazardous waste disposal and OSHA Right-to-Know.
- Operates all tools and equipment in a safe manner.
Physical Requirements
- Regularly required to stand, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, and talk or hear.
- Frequently required to walk, reach with hands and arms, and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and work in tiring and uncomfortable positions.
- Frequently lifts items weighing 15-25 pounds and occasionally in excess of 45 pounds.
- Frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts, extreme heat, and vibration.
- Occasionally exposed to wet/humid conditions, high places, fumes/airborne particles, and risk of electrical shock.
- Work environment noise level is usually loud.
Requirements and Qualifications
- Minimum Education: High school diploma or general education degree (GED); BA/BSc/HND also accepted.
- Experience: Six months to one year of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Travel: Must possess a valid passport (valid for at least one year from hire) and be able to travel internationally.
- Licensure: Must possess a valid country driver's license.
- Medical/Security: Ability to successfully pass contract medical requirements and maintain requirements for the duration of deployment. Must be able to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization.
- Preferred Skills: Previous work experience in an austere OCONUS environment with a multi-national workforce is highly desirable.
- Communication: Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating/maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information to managers and clients.
