The Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) is looking to recruit an Audit Officer II. This is an entry-level position within the internal audit cadre. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the ODPP's commitment to transparency and accountability by executing audit assignments and ensuring the integrity of financial and operational systems. The officer may be deployed to either the Headquarters in Nairobi or to various Regional Offices under the mentorship and guidance of senior staff.
Key Responsibilities and Duties
Strategy and Policy Implementation: Participate in the implementation of audit and risk strategies, policies, the Audit Framework, and various audit procedures and programs.
Charter Compliance: Support the implementation of the Internal Audit Charter within the ODPP to ensure adherence to professional standards.
Technology Utilization: Analyze and utilize audit software and data analytical tools to improve the efficiency, accuracy, and effectiveness of the audit process.
Risk Management: Assist in identifying organizational risks and implementing risk-based audit approaches.
Audit Execution: Conduct assigned internal audit tasks, including reviewing financial records and operational processes.
Internal Controls: Evaluate the adequacy and effectiveness of the organization's internal control systems and provide recommendations for improvement.
Qualifications and Requirements
Education:
A Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration (BA) with an Accounting or Finance option; OR
A Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Auditing and Consultancy or Finance option from a recognized institution (or its equivalent).
Professional Certification: Must have at least Certified Public Accountant (CPA) Part II or equivalent professional qualifications.
Constitutional Compliance: Must meet the requirements of Chapter Six (6) of the Constitution of Kenya 2010, relating to leadership and integrity.
Skills and Competencies
Proficiency in data analysis and audit software tools.
Strong understanding of accounting principles and auditing standards.
Excellent analytical thinking and attention to detail.
High standards of integrity and professional ethics.
Effective communication skills for reporting and documentation.
