The Audit Officer is responsible for providing independent and objective assurance and consulting services designed to add value and improve the Bank’s operations and performance. This role focuses on risk management, internal control systems, and ensuring strict compliance with both internal policies and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Assist and participate in the preparation of the annual audit plan.
Plan and conduct audits in accordance with accepted auditing standards to ensure compliance with company policies, legal requirements, and best operating standards.
Report engagement observations and make practical recommendations for corrective action to address unsatisfactory conditions, improving operations and reducing costs.
Assist in the preparation of audit programs and carrying out risk-based audits within the bank's operations and activities.
Recommend systems of internal controls and checks to management.
Follow up on the implementation of recommendations provided by external auditors.
Carry out investigative audits as requested by the Board Audit Committee (BAC) and Management.
Assist in designing, developing, and updating the internal audit manual.
Assist in preparing comprehensive audit reports, queries, and observations.
Review and appraise the soundness, adequacy, and application of accounting, financial, and other operating controls while promoting effective control environment.
Perform various assignments as requested by management and the BAC from time to time.
Qualifications and Experience
Be a holder of a Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Finance, or Economics.
Professional qualifications such as CPA, ACCA, or CISA are required.
Minimum of 3 years of relevant working experience in the banking industry.
Knowledge of IT auditing will be considered a significant advantage.
Good communication and report writing skills.

Computer Proficiency: Must be adept in MS Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Internet, and email.
Mobility: Willing and able to travel across the branch network.
Remuneration
A package commensurate to the post shall be discussed and agreed with the successful candidates.
