Job Description
The Audiovisual Producer advises on the most effective audiovisual formats and storytelling approaches to support institutional priorities, campaigns, and operations, and provides guidance and capacity-building support to delegations. Based in the Global Content Hub in Nairobi, the incumbent leads the end-to-end production of compelling content for various platforms.
Accountabilities & Functional Responsibilities
Storytelling & Content Strategy: Translates objectives into compelling audiovisual stories tailored to different audiences and platforms (social media, web, campaigns). Develops terms of reference, story angles, formats, and narrative approaches adapted to short-form, mid-form, and platform-specific video content.
Production Management: Leads the end-to-end production process: concept development, scripting, planning, shooting, editing, review, and delivery. Oversees production schedules, budgets, and logistics, ensuring efficient use of resources.
Editorial & Ethical Standards: Ensures accuracy, balance, ethical storytelling, and respect for humanitarian principles when portraying people and contexts. Ensures audiovisual outputs meet editorial, technical, and visual quality standards.
Digital Content Production: In coordination with the digital team, produces audiovisual content specifically designed for digital platforms (e.g., Instagram, X, YouTube, websites). Adapts formats, duration, framing, subtitles, and pacing to platform requirements and audience behavior.
Media Relations: Works with Public Relations Officers and other relevant colleagues to develop compelling and powerful AV news for media use.
Brand Integrity: Ensures consistent application of ICRC's corporate visual identity and tone across all audiovisual products. Reviews and validates edits, motion graphics, sound design, and final exports.
Capacity Building: Provides guidance to field teams on audiovisual production approaches, workflows, and best practices. Delivers coaching, advice, and training to ICRC staff, including through workshops and on-the-job support.
Knowledge Management: Ensures proper archiving, metadata, and reuse of audiovisual assets in line with internal systems and standards.
Collaboration: Contributes to the weekly Creative Content Meeting by proposing topics and story ideas, and providing constructive editorial and creative feedback.
Professional Experience Required
Bachelor’s Degree from a recognized university in communication, audio-visual (AV) production, or journalism or any other relevant degree.
Minimum 5–7 years’ professional work experience as a producer or journalist in news and social media content.
Proven experience with, and strong knowledge of, video shooting and editing software (Adobe, Final Cut).
Fluent command of English and of either French or Arabic.
