Role Overview
The Associate Programme Management Officer (P2) provides substantive and administrative support to the Director of the Corporate Services Division (CSD) and the Head of the Operation Risk Management Unit (ORMU). The role focuses on coordination support for corporate-wide change management projects, process simplification, and data-driven decision-making within UNEP and its administered entities.
Responsibilities
- Support and Coordination: Provides substantive and administrative support to the Director of CSD and Head of ORMU. Coordinates corporate-wide change management projects, including the simplification of administrative policies and procedures using client-centric efficiency measures.
- Efficiency and Strategy: Supports Divisional efforts to develop and implement strategies aimed at achieving efficiency gains, aligned with recommendations from various audit bodies.
- Analysis and Reporting: Reviews and analyzes information across various functional areas and summarizes findings for senior management and member states.
- Project Management: Assists in special project assignments in collaboration with UNEP Divisions by planning meetings, summarizing action plans, and monitoring follow-up actions.
- Content Preparation: Contributes to the preparation of written outputs such as background papers, analytical notes, and presentations for senior management and member states.
- Research: Undertakes research and data collection activities relevant to the functional areas of the Corporate Services Division.
- Committee Support: Provides substantive support and coordinates activities for management committees and taskforces led by or involving the CSD Director.
- Data Analytics: Collects and analyzes data to identify trends or patterns. Produces draft insights using graphs, charts, tables, and reports through data visualization methods to support planning and decision-making.
- Supervision: Supervises support staff as required.
Qualifications and Experience
Education
- An advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in business administration, management, economics, environment studies, sustainable development, law, or a related field.
- A first-level university degree (Bachelor's) in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced degree.
- Completion of programs (degree or non-degree) in data analytics, business analytics, or data science is considered an advantage.
Work Experience
- Minimum of two years of progressively responsible experience in project/programme management, administration, or a related area.
- Required experience in process redesign, process simplification, workflow optimization, and the establishment of KPIs within administrative functions.
- Required experience coordinating inputs for senior management and Member State reporting across administrative areas (HR, finance, resource mobilization, and oversight).
- Desirable experience includes working with international organizations, environmental issues, client-service delivery frameworks (SLAs, service quality monitoring), and drafting Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- One year or more of experience in data analytics is desirable.
