We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Assistant Senior Accountant to support the Finance Manager in managing day-to-day accounting operations. This role is ideal for a hands-on accounting professional with experience in fast-paced environments and strong proficiency in QuickBooks. The Assistant Senior Accountant will play a key role in ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency across core accounting functions, including receivables, payables, audits, financial reporting, bank reconciliations, and payroll.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Support the management of accounts receivable processes to ensure timely invoicing, follow-up, and collection of outstanding balances.
- Assist in processing and monitoring accounts payable to ensure accurate and timely payments to vendors and suppliers.
- Prepare schedules and documentation to support internal and external audits, ensuring compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements.
- Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for review by senior management.
- Perform regular bank and ledger reconciliations to maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records.
- Post and review general ledger entries, ensuring accuracy and adherence to accounting principles.
- Support payroll preparation and processing to ensure accurate and timely employee compensation.
Requirements
Education and Certification:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Commerce (B.Com) with a focus on Finance or Accounting from a recognized public university.
- Must hold CPAK (Certified Public Accountant of Kenya) certification.
Experience:
- 5 - 7 years in substantial finance within the service industry.
Skills and Attributes:
- Proficient in QuickBooks and Zoho Books.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles, standards, and best practices.
- A firm and decisive individual with excellent leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
