Job Description
The Assistant Polytechnic Instructor III is an entry-level position within the County Polytechnic Instructors cadre in the County Government of Kakamega. Working under the guidance of a County Polytechnic Principal, the instructor is responsible for delivering technical training in Hair Dressing and Beauty Therapy. The role involves preparing trainees for the job market by providing hands-on instruction, theoretical knowledge, and mentorship, while ensuring the efficient management of teaching resources.
Duties and Responsibilities
Instruct trainees in Hair Dressing and Beauty Therapy in accordance with the established syllabus.
Prepare and maintain essential teaching documents including schemes of work, lesson plans, lesson notes, and learning materials.
Maintain accurate trainee records.
Conduct trainee assessments both in the classroom and during industrial attachments.
Coordinate the storage, care, maintenance, and proper use of teaching tools, equipment, and materials.
Organise and lead co-curricular activities for trainees.
Maintain trainee discipline through guidance and counseling services.
Induct and supervise newly deployed instructors.
Requirements for Appointment
To be eligible for this position, candidates must meet the following criteria:
Have a Diploma in Hair Dressing and Beauty Therapy from a recognized institution.
Have training in Pedagogical Skills.
Be registered with the Technical Vocational Education and Training Authority (TVETA).
