PACIS Insurance Company Limited is seeking an Assistant Medical Underwriter. The jobholder is responsible for the assessment and determining terms for medical risks within the company's insurance portfolio. This role involves balancing technical risk assessment with high-quality customer service to maintain the profitability and efficiency of medical insurance schemes.
Principal Accountabilities
Underwriting Role
Risk Assessment: Assess new and existing risks to ensure they are adequately rated and commensurate with the terms and conditions advised and endorsed to retain profitability of the medical portfolio.
Quotations: Provide competitive quotations to all customers promptly within the standards set.
Membership Management: Handle membership additions and cancellations; set up schemes and benefits, and update memberships in the system.
Premium Debiting: Ensure timely and accurate debiting of premium and cover conditions, ensuring documentation complies with set standards and procedures.
Medical Cards: Ensure that medical insurance cards are issued in an efficient, timely, and accurate manner.
Renewals: Prepare and send renewal notices within stipulated timelines and coordinate follow-up of renewals to achieve targets.
Endorsements: Ensure policy endorsements and documents are accurate, made within service standards, and dispatched timely.
Stakeholder Training: Train various stakeholders on company products for increased knowledge and business growth.
Performance Monitoring: Monitor scheme loss ratios and adjust renewal terms accordingly.
Business Acquisition: Assist with business acquisition through follow-ups on quotes and intermediary visits.
Credit Policy: Ensure business is booked as per the company’s credit policy and follow up on payment plans.
Customer Service
Fund Monitoring: Continuously monitor the outpatient fund and check on prudent utilization of cover, reporting any anomaly noted and ensuring timely invoicing for top-ups.
Reporting: Provide benefit utilization reports as per the standards of service set out in the customer charter.
Communication: Provide timely feedback to client queries and concerns as per service charter provisions.
Relationship Management: Maintain client and intermediary relationships through visits.
Requirements and Qualifications
Minimum Academic Qualification: Bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Science or Statistics from a recognized University.
Experience: Entry Level to 6 months of experience.
Knowledge: A solid understanding of the insurance industry.
