Job Description
P.C.E.A Tumutumu Hospital is an institution owned and governed by the Presbyterian Church of East Africa, providing holistic healthcare since 1909. We are seeking a qualified and experienced Assistant Librarian to manage our library resources and support academic or institutional information needs. The role involves overseeing library operations, assisting users in finding information, and managing digital resources to ensure the smooth flow of knowledge within the hospital and its educational programs.
Responsibilities
Manage and organize library materials including books, journals, and digital resources.
Assist library users with research, information retrieval, and navigation of library databases.
Maintain and update digital library software and catalogs to ensure accuracy and accessibility.
Provide excellent customer service to students, staff, and other institutional stakeholders.
Maintain a quiet and conducive environment for learning and research.
Assist in the acquisition and classification of new library materials.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree or Diploma in Library and Information Science from a recognized institution.
Minimum of 2 years of relevant working experience in an academic or institutional library.
Strong proficiency in computer applications.
Excellent communication and customer service skills.
Familiarity with digital library software systems.
A recommendation letter from your religious leader (who should be listed as one of the referees) is mandatory.
